If you can only listen to two songs, pick Fire and Dew. Did I say it was loud? Then there was the Dew. I don't know if it was his intention but the whole place rang with the crowd singing Fire! Starts about 5:40. I love the Fire - Bobby leads a chant in the second set. Some things others didn't mention: the boys played the complete intros to Scarlet and Fire.

any one could be a tour best and they were all one night. The other reviews are so right: Scarlet, Fire, Wheel, Dew. The music was nice but then Althea and everything changed. I understand this was the biggest SPAC show ever - the town immediately passed an ordinance limiting crowd size. Some guys walked the lawn handing them out like candy. Where do I start? Bare naked heads swimming in the stream, big police chasing others, then there was the guy who jumped off the balcony. Thanks Charlie Miller for finally getting a great sounding version of this show on the Archive!!!Įveryone has a favorite show - this is mine. But this one was the best I’ve seen FOR SURE! And I only saw a couple lemons, so that’s saying something. I guarantee this was one of those nights! Absolutely stunning. I remember asking a security/ usher guy where the exit was & I swear he was absolutely freaked by the scene he had witnessed yelling “I DONT KNOW MAN! I DONT KNOW MAN! Hilarious!Just one of those magical shows with a very high percentage of audience not just dosed, but heavily dosed! I recently heard a Garcia interview where he said that sometimes he’d walked off stage feeling that he had dosed, knowing full well he hadn’t. I came somewhat down to earth at the recognition of the opening notes to Morning Dew & the dead wrapped their musical arms around me. Absolutely freaked!!!! Spent the next 40 or so minutes in a psychedelic dream space, could not see 3 feet in front of me due to hallucinations!!!! My god & I was only17years old. By the time Fire on the Mountain came Iwas absolutely freaked & was running AWAY from the stage up the hill. WHOOPS!!! I remember being on lawn just about 20 rows up & the balcony had morphed into a wooden structure & planks of wood where falling off of it during a thundering Scarlet Begonias. Not being satisfied, dosed again at setbreak. Quickly got separated from them & ran into other friends from Toronto. I traveled to show with 3 fellow heads from Toronto.
